Results from the 2010 Strong Tether Challenge
We keep hearing about the future of high-strength carbon nanotubes and yet here's a competition where none of the entries got anywhere close to reaching the desired strength.
They've decreased their barrier to entry by shortening the length of the tether required. There's $4 million at stake here, people! What else does NASA have to do to get industry interested in building high-tensile material?
