Fine Structure

Blake Stacey wrote up a nice response to a recent "skeptics are dumb" post by noted peddler of snake oil, Deepak Chopra. Why the Huffington Post manages to escape criticism for allowing Deepak to spew his slime on a regular basis we may never know. Here's the quote:

"No skeptic, to my knowledge, ever made a major scientific discovery or advanced the welfare of others."

The entire article seems quite familiar because it's almost exactly the same thing that the tech sector says about people who cry FAIL! Only there's a minor distinction: FAILers don't contribute anything, and skeptics do. If Deepak can't tell the difference between saying "FAIL!" and saying "That doesn't make logical sense!" then he's... well, about the same level of scum that he was before.
