Does General Relativity Describe the Universe?

If you believe a new paper by a respected cosmologist (read: not a crackpot), the answer is 98% certain to be no.

It's notoriously difficult to test any theory on really large scales, starting at the size of our solar system and getting larger, but general relativity seems to describe the interactions that we can detect from home. Until now, at least. Dark matter and dark energy have been looking for a home in any theory that pertains to the greater universe for a long while now and a new theory from the mind of Rachel Bean promises to provide it.
