Jupiter's New Black Spot
And this is why we love the internet: Anthony Wesley was capturing images of Jupiter on the 19th of July when he saw a large dark spot that wasn't recorded previously. Only hours later anyone with internet access had details and pictures of his sighting. There isn't a definitive theory as to what caused the spot yet, although some are suggesting that it looks very similar to the Shoemaker-Levy comet that broke up and hit Jupiter in 1994.
