Watch Hubble Float Away

The best part about watching this video of Hubble being released this morning by the crew of STS 125 may not be seeing Hubble float away from the Shuttle for the last time. I've never seen a video from the Shuttle that's this candid in how things get done, so I was surprised at a couple of the subtler points.

First off, it's noisy on that Shuttle. The constant whir of machinery seems like something you have to get used to quick, or it'll drive you crazy. And, while it seems pretty understandable that you don't have to stay on the "floor" in microgravity, I think it's really fascinating how interaction takes place on a third axis aboard the Shuttle. There are people floating above you, under you and any sort of direction in between. I imagine that takes some getting used to. ]
