X-Rays from Scotch Tape
The Nature video archive has a fun video on a team of researchers who have experimentally produced x-rays from peeling scotch tape in a vacuum. They actually provide this as a demo during the video. Not a whole lot of detail on why this occurs even though it's ripe for that kind of explanation, considering the normalcy of tape peeling.
