Sinkable Neutrino Detectors

I'm a big fan of neutrinos and neutrino experiments so here's an exciting proposed experiement found by Zapperz: a 10 kiloton liquid scintillation detector called Hanohano. The device is designed like traditional neutrino detectors which have a large tank filled with heavy water which gives off light when a rare neutrino interaction takes place. Photodetectors placed all around the tank pick up these flashes and interpret them into meaningful scientific data. Only this one is designed to be towed out to the ocean and sunk beneath the waves to shield it from background noise, a task usually done by building tanks deep underground.
